some good byes

I only have one more week of school left and today was Taranjeet and Kinota's last day with us because they are both going overseas...Taranjeet to her husband in England and Kinota (with his wife) to Japan to teach.

I look forward to Fridays because we have treat day (I started it) and everyone is always in a good mood and happy because it IS friday. Today was a good day because we had Michael Duffy from the States presenting geography lessons to us on the work of water and also on metal insets and equivalency. I really, really like Michael. He is so calm and kind and when he teaches us he can't help but share his Montessori "vision" with us....when he speaks it is with such peace and wonder and excitement for montessori education that it is infectious....it inspires and motivates me......he is a good person.

At the end of the day we had our class meeting as usual and this time I used my cup as a "talking cup" and each one of us had a turn to say how our day was and also say good-bye to Kinota and Taranjeet. It was kind of emotional because we have all become so close in the past six weeks and we have all worked hard to uplift and support each other and now that we are losing two of our group....well there will be a void.

Taranjeet has been my math materials/WEdnesday-night-stay-late-and-practice buddy, but besides this we have had some good talks and she has given me some great advice. I'm going to miss her and her cheerfulness. And Kinota, man I am going to miss his mellow, calm, Bob-Marley-don't-worry-about-a-thing attitude and his "follow the child" comments...he is so funny but besides this he too is a good and kind person.

It's funny when and where and how you meet the people who touch your lives in different ways. I'm grateful for Taranjeet and Kinota because they have touched my life.
