Well today was the last full day of school for the kids and it was pretty cruisy for them. We had a "Jingle Bell Run" the parent advisory committee put on where everyone in the whole school went outside and carried Jingle Bells and either walked or ran around the whole perimeter of the property. I was about to go, but then Lize saw how cold I was and asked if I wanted to stay inside while she accompanied the Primaries. I quickly took her up on her offer and cut up strips of paper instead for the hats that Cathy G has somehow got me to prepare. It was nice to have those few moments to myself.
One of the benefits of teaching is that at Christmas time you often get presents from your students. Now this can be a good thing or an awkward thing depending on the present that one gets. So far I have got a card and two gifts cards (one for Starbucks and one for Chapters - yay!), a box of chocolate truffles, a little mini bonsai kit and some cookies and things to share with my co-teachers. Jana said that I am lucky because I teach in two classes so technically I have 36 students and I will get "the double dose" of presents. Well I hope not because what would I do with all of these things? It is nice to get gifts and cards though from students and parents. It is nice to have them show their appreciation for all of the hard work that we do.
I got paid today which is always a nice thing and this weekend I am hoping to get a lot of Christmas preparations done. So much to do in so little time.....
I've decided to sign up for this Walk-a-thon thing that is taking place in Victoria in April. They have different distances of walks that one can do but I am going to aim for the 10km. I am sure that I will be able to do it but it will also give me something to work towards and motivate me to continue regular exercise.
