Man...I need to be better at blogging. One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay better in touch with people so I will work on this. I sure will.

Christmas came and went and we had fun. Carmen spent Christmas with us and it was a joy to have her here. New Year's was low key which was fine by us. We could see the fireworks in the city from our livingroom window. Not bad for NZ.

My birthday was fun too. We had some people over for pizza and dessert. I'm the big 35 now. It sounds old, but I don't feel old. Age is just a number really.

Bethany and I got back from visiting Carmen in Wellington for a few days. I found some cheap tickets on grabbaseat and thought, why not? Bethany was free so we hopped the plane and went. Carmen lives with two flatmates - Francine (I love this name by the way!) and Martijn (he's Dutch). They are both really cool and LOVED having a baby around. Carmen was awesome. She managed to borrow a port-a-cot and a highchair to use which made my life a whole lot easier. We hung out, we went downtown with her friend Jasmine and saw all of the people dressed in costumes for the big Rugby 7s game (some of the costumes were hilarious! We saw a group of about 20 guys dressed up as Gingerbread Men), we went to the Museum, we went to church, we had many late night chats. It was wonderful and I was kind of sad to come home. I miss having a close girlfriend around to have late night chats with about anything and everything. It's funny because I barely knew Carmen in Canada but since coming here we have really got to know each other and have had some good, good talks. "Elicia - we're friends for life!" she said. Right back at ya I said. Right back at ya!

I like Wellington. It is more artsy there and has a more relaxed feel to it. Also, it is wayyyy less humid there and it us much more compact which makes it easier to get places. The public transport system is miles ahead of the one here in Auckland (surprising since Auckland is much bigger and has more people). Anyway, I would love to live in Wellington but I don't think that it will happen. We are here in Auckland for a few years at least. Then...who knows? Maybe Australia? Hopefully Canada.

Bethany turns one next month. One already! I know, I need to post more photos. What I need to do it get on my own computer and download and post them. I will. Really and truly. She has two teeth in the bottom now and I think that she is getting more because she is drooling like mad. Last week she stood on her own for a few seconds and since then has started walking along the furniture. I don't think that she is far from walking! She still doesn't have much hair, but neither did I at her age. It will come. I keep hoping that it will be curly. Keep your fingers crossed. I am trying to decided what to do for her birthday. We want to do something that isn't too expensive (preferably outside) where we can invite a few people. Any ideas?
